SC waives 6-month waiting period, grants divorce

New Delhi, The Supreme Court has allowed an estranged couple’s plea for divorce by mutual consent by waiving the waiting period of six months, exercising its powers under the Constitution to do “complete justice”. WPI inflation hits 23-month high of 3.55% in July

Wholesale inflation soared to a 23-month high of 3.55 per cent in July as vegetables, pulses and sugar turned costlier. The wholesale price-based inflation, reflecting the annual rate of price rise, in June stood at 1.62 per cent. In July 2015, WPI inflation was (-)4.00 per cent. The wholesale inflation last witnessed at a higher level than the July 2016 was in August 2014 at 3.74 per cent. 10-year-old diesel vehicles blocked in Delhi by NGT

In order  to address pollution levels, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Monday directed traffic authorities in Delhi to de-register 10-year-old diesel vehicles with immediate effect. The order comes as an earlier direction of the tribunal in 2014 to stop all 15-year- old vehicles (petrol and diesel) from plying in Delhi was not implemented. Curfew remains in force in Kashmir, death toll climbs to 42

A woman injured in clashes between security forces and protestors in South Kashmir succumbed at a hospital, taking the death toll in the ongoing unrest to 42, even as curfew remained in force in the Valley today.
